MINNEAPOLIS -- U.S. Rep. Michele Bachmann says the United States needs to open up the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge to oil drilling and expand oil exploration in other states. Bachmann’s call followed a return trip from energy sites in Alaska and Colorado with other Republican members of Congress.
In a conference call Tuesday, Bachmann said the U.S. needs to tap its energy reserves and that only Congress is standing in the way of making a dent in rising fuel costs. In July 2008, Rep. Michele Bachmann toured the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge and an energy reserve site in Colorado. On Jul 22, the Minnesota Republican told the media gas prices could be cut in half if reserves in these regions are tapped. |
