Arctic Power promotes ANWR development at Council of State Governments
Arctic Power was represented at the Council of State Governments annual meeting at the Egan Convention Center in Anchorage, Alaska this week, helping to promote Alaskan’s view to open the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge(ANWR) to responsible oil and gas development. Arctic Power staff met with state legislators from across America explaining the ANWR issue. Many legislators traveled up to Prudhoe Bay to learn about the progress in oil development and see first hand where much of America’s energy comes from.

In his opening speech to the 1500 visiting legislators, Alaska Governor Frank Murkowski spoke passionately about the need to open 2,000 acres of the coastal plain of ANWR He stressed the economic and social benefits that would come to America and Alaskans from oil development. Murkowski visited the Arctic Power display booth and thanked Arctic Power staff for their support on promoting the issue.
Here are excerpts from his keynote speech to the Council of State Governments.
