House Committee Chairman Stresses Need for ANWR Development
"It's time for America to get as serious about energy as China appears to be," stated House Resources Committee Chairman Richard Pombo in response to the Chinese government's recent bid to buy U.S. owned energy company, Unocal. In an interview on Bloomberg Television yesterday, Chairman Pombo stated "Perhaps most importantly, the United States must double its efforts to increase production here at home in places like the northern coastal plain of ANWR. Doing so will create good jobs, strengthen our economy and lessen the national security risk associated with foreign dependence and tight global supplies."
